Sweet and Savory Recipes for Holi



Holi is around the corner and I am neck deep in recipes that I want to make for this festival. While there are so many traditional Holi recipes of my childhood, there are also tweaks to these traditions that come from years of living in places where key ingredients are difficult to find. I am sure any one living away from home would identify with that reality. Substituting ingredients for traditional recipes can result in some surprisingly great results. So much so that often times I have completely switched over to the new ingredients as that agree more with the climate, our dietary habits, as well as our palettes!!

Crunchy Granola with Almonds, Coconut, and Pepitas


Today I am sharing another granola recipe that I prepare at home. This is a recipe in which the granola has a higher quantity of nuts and seeds than is usually found in granola. It is one of my favorite breakfast foods. This granola is delicious and crunchy and can be enjoyed with warm or cold milk. It is also delicious with Greek yogurt and fresh fruits!

Saunf wala Sooji ka Halwa | Semolina pudding with Fennel Seeds

Sooji Halwa is a classic Indian sweet! There are many versions of this sweet treat. Traditionally, Sooji Halwa is flavored with a large pinch of cardamom. Some folks like to cook it in milk, or a combination of milk and water. When saffron is added to it, its gets a light yellow color and is called Rava Kesari.
